grandma's greenhouse
- Today was a relaxing day. I was the last one to get out of bed, which is a miracle.
- Grandpa gave us a tour of the gardens today. He's so proud of his flowers. He showed us everything and told us what they are called and when they bloom. Too bad I didn't inherit his gardening genes. I'm happy if I can keep something alive for a month or two.
- Lila, you love being in the greenhouse and looking at all the plants with grandma. You're fascinated by all things that grow. You were delighted to be able to pick a spaghetti squash, and are looking forward to eating it.
- George, I cleared out some space in the garage and made a little hockey rink for you. Grandpa found some hockey sticks and a puck. You played all day. Daddy joined you for a while and you made him wear a "hockey helmet" (an orange hard hat). He looked ridiculous, but he was a good sport.
- Lila, you played play doh quietly for a long time. You called me over and showed me the chicken pot pie you made. So cute.
- Katie, you were super quiet today. You played Skipbo with grandma in the afternoon, but other than that, you were reading and hanging out by yourself.
- Jane, you stayed in your robe the entire day today. You love that thing with all your heart.
- Lila and George, you wanted to go swimming after dinner today. It was fine for a few minutes, but then the mosquitos came out rather quickly and ferociously, so we scooted back to the house real fast.
- Before you went to bed, we had a "chip party" which consisted of the six of us sitting in a circle in the middle of the floor of the big bedroom and, well, eating some chips. We also listened to a couple songs. George, you commented a couple times "this is such a good party." You're easy to please.
- I've been thinking about Auntie Jenny a lot today. She's quite an incredible woman. She's been through some tough stuff, and the whole while she's been kind and thoughtful and courageous. I admire her so much. I hope that I could demonstrate even half the grace she's shown if I were under her circumstances. She's amazing. You're lucky to have such a strong role model in your life.
