no training wheels!
Lila, you decided today was the day to remove your training wheels. I think you need a new bike, it’s looking a bit small for you, but it’ll do for now. We went out on the grassy field at town centre, and you were totally getting the hang of it! Nice work. But then the pedal came around a scraped the back of your ankle, and you were done. We’ll try again once the rain lets up a bit.
When we left the house to go to Katie’s soccer game, it was sunny, so we brought bikes and scooters and I brought all my camera gear. Just as the game was about to start, the rain came pouring down. In buckets. It was a little excessive. Daddy ended up taking you guys home and I stayed to finish watching the game. I made a gross miscalculation in footwear…I was in my Birkenstocks, and my little feet were almost frozen off by the end of the game.
The leaves are so incredible at the park right now. The forecast for the week is rain, so I’m sure this is the last we’ll see of them. Our city has done such a nice job with our outdoor spaces. It’s especially nice because we don’t have a yard, so we’re dependent on parks, but we have so many beautiful places to choose from. We’re so lucky.
Katie, your game was highly controversial. Several parents and coaches on your team complained to the league about the ref you had last week. And guess which ref you had this week? That’s right. The very same one. There were some questionable calls and lots of missed calls. The parents on our team got a little out of control. I almost thought a riot was going to break out. At times like this, I’m grateful I know so little about sports, and have nothing invested in the outcome of the game. I’m just there to watch my beautiful baby out there and cheer her on.
Jane, you worked your long shift today, from 12-8. You have requested Saturdays off, and I think that was a really good move. Everyone needs time to relax and rejuvenate.
