surprise!!

surprise!!
  • Lila and George, this morning we dropped the big girls off at school then set off on an adventure. We travelled out to Chilliwack and went to Auntie Kim's house where we met up with Auntie Becca and Debby Ross.  Auntie Becca had spent the night last night with Debby in Marysville, then they travelled up together.  We jumped in our van and headed up to 100 Mile to surprise grandma Laura for her 70th birthday!  Auntie Jean Charelyboy was also coming, but from Williams Lake, so she had arrived earlier in the day and told grandma she had just stopped in for a visit.
  • The trip was pretty uneventful.  It poured rain until Hope, then we had blue skies and clear roads.  I was grateful.  I've turned into a real baby about driving in the snow.
  • We arrived at Grandma's house around 4:00.  We all decided that the three of us should go in first since she might have seen our van drive into the driveway.  We knocked on the door and yelled surprise when Grandpa opened the door, but Grandma and Auntie Jean were in the bedroom so they didn't hear us.  We ran in and surprised her in there.  She, of course, started to cry.  It was so fun.
  • After the excitement had died down a little, Auntie Becca knocked on the door.  Grandma went to open it, and once more, started to cry.  She had just been down at Auntie Becca's earlier in the week, so she really wasn't expecting to see her.
  • We let the excitement die down again, then Debby knocked on the door.  Grandma couldn't even believe her eyes.  It was so fun!
  • Then, again, grandma started to cry when she thanked Grandpa for organizing all these surprises for her birthday.  He had managed to keep it a secret, and she thought he was just dragging his heels about putting together a celebration.
  • We had a yummy dinner of soup and buns, then relaxed in the living room and chatted the evening away.
  • So fun to surprise Grandma like that!
