stormy skies
  • We had a lazy morning this morning.  Everyone was watching shows and lounging and relaxing.  It was highly enjoyable.  We don't often have mornings where nothing is going on.
  • Katie, your soccer game was at 2:00 today up at Heritage Mountain.  Daddy and I brought the babies and their bikes, but the track was closed for repairs, so we ended up having to split up and take turns playing with them on the basketball courts.  I could still see your game though, so that was good.
  • Lila, you were getting restless and kind of crazy, so I took you for a walk.  You love going to "see what you can see."  We walked up behind the school and found a tremendous set of stairs that led to the prettiest hill full of Broom (the yellow flowering shrubs) and long grass and big rocks, and a dark stormy sky.  You had a great time exploring and doing dances for me.  I was applauding and speaking in a British accent and you thought it was hilarious.  Every time I'd start, you'd totally crack up.  I love making you laugh
  • Lila, one of your birthday wishes was pink hair.  We dyed a small streak and you're in love.  You want more, so I think I'll add one on the other side as well as a couple more on the same side
  • George, daddy said that while I was on that walk with Lila, you sat with him and asked him to hold you "like a baby."  Daddy was more than happy to oblige, as you don't sit still for snuggles very often
  • Katie, after soccer I took you shopping to get a new bathing suit top.  You like to wear sports bras and shorts as a bathing suit.  We always have good luck at Winners, so we went there first.  We have so much fun when we're out together.  You're a great shopping buddy.  We giggle our way through the store and stop and search and then try things on.  I'm the best dressing room assistant who has ever lived.  You like it when I come in with you, but you make me turn my back to you, then you get me to pass you each article of clothing, and handle all the rehanging.  We found a terrific bathing suit top as well as a cute little tank top
  • Jane, after we got home from shopping, I realized I hadn't really seen you all day.  You've been busy in your room drawing and looking at Tumblr and watching Netflix.  I asked you to come out and interact with other humans for a bit.  Me, you and Katie sat in the living room and created a game.  We each had to tell the others three interesting things we had done or seen today, and the others got to be the judge as to whether it was interesting or not.  It was hilarious.  You were a harsh, harsh judge.  I'm pretty sure every single story I told you was interesting
  • Our kitty is so sweet.  She doesn't get as much attention as she deserves.  She's such a beautiful cat.  She's 16 and still looks like a kitten in so many ways
  • Daddy plays hockey on Sunday nights.  I really enjoy the quiet time to myself.  It's a nice way to prepare myself for the week ahead, and recover a bit from the weekend
