scarf
  • Lila, yesterday a package arrived for you.  It was your birthday gift from Auntie Jenny, Keegan and Jack.  It was some gymnastics ribbons as well as a set of pretty scarves.  You LOVE it.  You wanted to take the scarves to school to show your friends.
  • When I picked you up, you only had the orange scarf.  I asked where the others were and you told me you had given them to your friends because you wanted them to feel as happy as you.  It was so sweet.
  • We stayed after school to play.  You and George turned your scarf into a dust bomb.  You'd fill it will gravel, then throw it and watched the dust poof out of it.  You two were filthy by the time we left for home.  Covered in a thick layer of grime.  I stripped you down outside the front door and carried you to the bath.  The water was thick and grey.  So gross.  But you two were so darn happy.
  • George, I worked this morning, so my friend Kim babysat you.  You were pretty brave about it.  She said you had a couple tears when I left, but were quickly distracted by food and Netflix.  It was nice to be able to have a little snuggle with baby Audrey when I came to pick you up.
  • Lila, long after you had gone to bed, you came quietly to our bedroom.  You were crying softly.  When I asked you what was wrong, you said that you really missed your scarves.  It broke my heart.  It broke daddy's heart even more.  A new set was quickly ordered on Amazon.  I suppose we could have used this opportunity to teach you a lesson.  But honestly, we were so happy you had been so kind and generous with your friends, we wanted to reward you for it.
