first job!
- Jane, we were "encouraging" you (strongly) to get a job this summer. We told you back in March that you would be responsible for taking over your cell phone payments on July 1. You hadn't made a lot of movement on the job front, so daddy and I were interested to see what would happen.
- On Wednesday morning, you made a list of places you thought you'd like to work at along the bus route and applied to several places online. Then we printed off some resumes and took them to the places you had applied to so you could introduce yourself to the manager and put a face to the name. You were terrified. But you did it, and felt pretty relieved when you finished.
- Then yesterday Superstore called to ask you to come in for an interview this morning! Wow. So exciting.
- I took you down there for your interview at 10am and waited nervously in the van. You came out about 45 minutes later with the hugest smile ever...YOU GOT THE JOB!!!!!! Oh Jane, I'm so proud of you. You were so worried about the whole process but you conquered!!! A rite of passage as you move closer and closer to adulthood.
- I'm continuing my quest for relaxation. I got out of bed just in time to take you to your interview Jane, then came home, crawled back into bed and slept for 3.5 hours. My body must really need the sleep.
- Katie, you made dinner for us tonight. You, Jane and Daddy are taking turns cooking this summer so I can have two months off. It's AMAZING. I'm really enjoying it. You made burgers which was a big hit with everyone.
- Daddy was so sick today...well...actually hung over. He went out with his hockey buddies last night and had just three drinks, but I think he may actually be allergic to alcohol because the last few times he's had it, he got quite sick. It's definitely not worth it for him to have any.
- George and Lila, you spend a loooooong time in the bath today. You two are so happy just playing together. Such great little buddies.
- Katie, you lounged around all day reading and writing poetry and watching your weird stuff on YouTube. You're really loving these lazy days.
