We left for 100 Mile today. The plan was for me to start work early this morning, then you guys would pick me up at 11:00 and we’d hit the road. It didn’t really work out that way. But our plans are rarely realized. Katie, you phoned me at work in tears because you were stressed out because dad was vacuuming the van instead of getting y’all out the door. You couldn’t find the babies’ winter clothes are were feeling pretty anxious about it. I decided right then and there that I would come home first so you wouldn’t feel so much pressure. The funny thing about dad is that he does the weirdest things in the hours leading up to a road trip. It’s baffling. Over the years, I’ve come to accept it, but I can see how you’d be worried.
I came home to a clean van, and bags packed and ready to go. You all pulled it off! Good for you.
We took Zeus with us. Jane, you got a basket with your portable heating pad and covered him up with a blankie for the car ride. Grandma has been excitedly preparing a little habitat for him. She was going to try to find a terrarium, but I assured her a box would be just fine. We brought his basking lamps and UV lamps, so I’m sure he’ll be happy as anything.
We picked lunch up at the McDonald’s drive thru in Pitt Meadows. I think this is the first time our family has been able to get a meal at the drive thru without any big
It was a glorious day for a drive. There was fresh snow on the mountains, the sky was blue and not a cloud in the sky.
George, you fell asleep on the trip. You were the only one. I don’t know how you sleep with your neck all kinked over like that.
We arrived in 100 Mile just in time for dinner. It was a smooth trip, except for a tiny puking incident…but I have to say George, it was unbelievable. You were feeling carsick, and leaned over, spread your knees apart and vomited. And miracle of all miracles, there was an upside-down frisbee that caught everything. It was a work of art. Amazing. Daddy just pulled over, cleaned the frisbee with snow and some toilet paper, and we were good to go again.
