happy new year!
We had a lovely end to 2019. I worked until noon, then came home and had a nap so I would be able to make it until midnight.
Ethan, you spent the night last night, and when I got up early this morning, you were sound asleep on the couch. I’m sorry I had to be a creepy old auntie, but you’re so cute when you sleep.
Jane, you did your makeup and hair with extra care. Katie and Sara kept you company in the bathroom and Zack waited patiently in the hall and chatted with you guys. He’s a patient guy. Jane, you and Zack left after dinner to go to a party at a friends’ house.
Shirley and Michael and Sara arrived. Shirley brought the most magnificent apple crisp. The kids started in on it, and before we knew it, there was just a spoonful left in the pan. Wut? I’m going to have to sweet talk her into making one again.
Auntie Georgia was next. We had invited uncle Ben as well, but he was more in the mood for a quiet evening, and it was anything but quiet over here.
The Matsuda’s came next. We play the toilet flushing game that auntie Jenny gave George for Christmas. It was pretty funny. Especially to watch grandma with her face in a toilet hoping not to get sprayed.
George, you were in your glory with your cousins around you. You love those Matsuda boys so much. It’s nice for you to have some boys to wrestle and fight with. And they’re so nice to you. They’re nice boys.
We played a game of Estevan rummy. Daddy and I swapped in and out of the game because I was making food and cleaning and such. Lila, you helped me make bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers. They were so delicious!!!
We ALL made it until midnight! Even uncle Luke!! It was a miracle. Happy 2020 everyone! I hope this year brings peace and deep joy, along with some excitement and growth! 2019 was definitely a learning year for me. I know parts of me that I didn’t know existed at the beginning of the year. I learned a lot about love and forgiveness and boundaries and unconditional love. We said goodbye to our condo and started a new adventure in a new house. I found my green thumb, a job, a more mature me, deeper love with daddy and a new perspective on motherhood. Thanks 2019! You were good to me (in the end) and I’m hoping for more growth and discoveries in 2020.
(also…I can’t believe I’ve been blogging for six years now!)
