four years old
- George, you were excited about your real birthday today. You continuously reminded everyone that it was your special day and you got to choose everything. You wanted to hang out at home with me while the girls were at school because you wanted to play with your new Lego guys. I'm amazed by how long you can play quietly by yourself. The only times you need me are when you're hungry, or just need to tell me you love me (which you do about 80 times a day)
- Lila, the first thing you do when you get out of your class is take your shoes and socks off. I wonder if that's part of what you don't like about school? You're used to freedom and walking barefoot outside whenever you want.
- George and Lila, you fought over that garbage can for a long time. You were arguing about who got to sit on it. It's one of the dumbest fights I've ever seen you have.
- George, you made yourself a birthday cake out of sand and sticks and repeatedly sang happy birthday to yourself and blew out your candles.
- Somewhere during our conversations after school I realized that you were expecting another birthday cake. I rushed home and quickly made one.
- You asked for homemade Mac & Cheese for dinner. You certainly have odd requests for a little four year old boy.
- You were watching TV, then paused it and came running over to me. You said, "Whoa...I can feel that I'm bigger now that I'm four years old."
- George, Daddy and I were reminiscing about your birth. It was funny because between dinner and bedtime, we had a baby. Then we just went to bed like it was any other day...except we had a fresh new baby between us. How considerate of you to be born at such a convenient time of day. I didn't miss any meals or sleep. Good job!
- We had a full house for your birth. There had to be two midwives present for a home birth, and each of them had a student with them. Then the girls were watching as well and Auntie Georgia. The birthing tub was in the corner of our bedroom. It was standing room only. Daddy sat by my side because I wanted him close, although I didn't want anyone to touch me or talk to me. You were born at 10:23 on 10/23. Everyone cheered when you appeared. How lucky you are to join a family who anxiously awaited your arrived and celebrated your birth. Jane cut your umbilical cord, and Katie was the first to hold you after me. Lila didn't seem interested in the least...but she was pretty little still. You guys are only 16 months apart. When I look back at pictures, she was still a baby herself.
