two little monkeys
- Today was hot and smoky. The smoke from the fires in the interior is staring to bother my throat, and Jane, your eyes are all itchy and dry.
- Lila, you've really gotten serious about your drawing lately. You sat by me in my room and drew for a really long time. The latest obsession is butterflies. You're getting more and more detailed and the patterns are getting more intricate.
- The cat isn't enjoying the heat. She's cranky and when she saw me taking photos of her, she totally swore at me with her eyes. I could feel the vibe. It made me laugh. Poor old girl.
- Daddy and I went on a pho date, then to IKEA to get the curtain rods we forgot to get the other day when we were there. We had a fight on the way there because I always feel like daddy hates doing stuff with me (except for pho of course!), and he feels that if he's not actively complaining, then I have nothing to complain about. It's an ongoing thing for us. I love to be out and about, seeing things and talking to people, and he loves to be at home, not talking to people. This is one thing we're never going to see eye to eye on. I pouted for a while during pho, then I finished sulking and told him why it bothers me. He agreed to actively participate in the IKEA outing. We ended up having a really fun time. Maybe eventually we'll get this sorted out.
- Katie and George, my two little pests, you had a great time play fighting out the front door today. George, you love taking Katie down and then sitting on her in triumph. Katie, you're a pretty good sport and like to make George think he's super tough and strong.
- After dinner, we headed out to Blue Mountain park. George and Lila, you love the little pool there as well as the spray park. The skies are so smoky, everything is cast in a weird orange light. The sun is eerie.
- Lila, you were swimming under water, and then just the way you came out of the water and flipped your hair off your face, it looked like you were wearing some kind of bad toupe. Daddy and I couldn't stop laughing. We were calling you Lila Trump.
- Jane and Katie, when we got home from the park, I put the babies to bed, then came to my room to do some stuff. You were both in there hanging out. I asked why you always hang out in my room when you have your own room. You said it was because you like to be close to me...and I always make my bed, so it's more comfortable. It was music to my ears. You like to be close to me??? Wow. I'm seriously honored. I hope you always want to hang out with me, cause I'm always going to love having you close to me.
