lila's 1st day of kindergarten
- George, you're always ravenous when you wake up. Today you were up before it was light and asked for cereal.
- Lila, today was your first day of kindergarten (45 minutes). When you woke up, you told us that your tummy felt funny. I thought it was butterflies. I asked you to get dressed, so you took your pajamas off and changed into new pajamas. We tried our best to talk you into changing into clothes, but you were determined.
- We dropped Jane and Katie off, then headed to your school. By the time we got there, you said your tummy felt really bad, and you didn't want to go to school. I pulled into the parking lot and told you to sit tight while I ran into the school to let them know you wouldn't be there today. By the time I got back out to the van, you had found a ziplock somewhere and had puked in it (thank you for being so responsible!!). Then you told me your tummy felt all better, so I assumed your tummy was upset just because you were nervous. You wanted to go to school, so we went.
- I had packed a dress just in case you were inspired to change. Thankfully, you consented just before we went to your classroom.
- You lined up and waited for your teacher like a pro and didn't even look back as you entered the classroom.
- George, you burst into tears when she went in, and said "I'm gonna miss Yiya so much. She's my best buddy."
- Lila, we waited outside the classroom and about half an hour later, you came out the front door and yelled for me, then puked on the steps. I ran to you to help you. George was right behind us and said in his loudest most outside voice "I LOVE TO WATCH YIYA PUKE!!!!" Oh my gosh. Never a dull moment around here.
- We headed home and you rested the remainder of the day. It didn't seem to bother you at all though. You said, "That's ok...I can try again tomorrow!"
- I was expecting something interesting to happen on your first day of school because you're just an interesting gal and interesting things seem to be attracted to you, but I definitely didn't envision this. I'm glad you don't care too much...if that would have happened to Katie, it would have taken us two weeks to get her back into the classroom.
