family portrait
- Sunrises. I never get tired of them.
- Katie, you had the first day of your soccer tournament today. We took a look at the weather forecast and decided that today would be the best day for the whole gang to come watch. Your games were in White Rock, so we all piled in the van with a ton of snacks and toys and headed out.
- Surprisingly, it was really cold there. There was an Arctic wind blowing through and we all nearly froze to death. Perhaps Birkenstocks were not the best choice in footwear. Good thing we have blankets in the van. Daddy looked like a homeless guy sitting on the bleachers all bundled up. Jane, you were wrapped in a quilt, trying to have a nap on the bleachers. Lol.
- Katie, your team won both games. The first one was 6-0 and the second one was 5-1. Amazing. It usually takes you guys a couple months to score that many goals.
- Katie, you're starting to get really bossy out on the field. I find it hilarious, because up until this year you've been so quiet on the field. Your team mates totally listen to you though, so it seems as though you've earned the right to tell them where to be.
- Jane, you watched the babies on the playground for a long long time. I was super grateful because I really appreciate being able to focus solely on Katie Bean.
- George, you drew a family portrait. You proudly showed it to me and I noticed there were five kids. I asked you, and you pointed to each one and named them, then got to the last one and told me it was our baby that died. Awwww. You're the sweetest. Thank you for remembering our baby. That baby opened our family to a world of joy and hope and excitement that could not have existed otherwise.
