cold
  • Daddy and I went for a pho date this afternoon.  It's been a little while since we've been out together.  The food hit the spot.  I hadn't had breakfast yet and it was just what the doctor ordered on this cool summer day.
  • George and Lila, you wanted to go to Blue Mountain Park yesterday, but I wouldn't take you because it was too cold, but you were sooooo insistent, I promised I would take you today.  It's still quite cool today (I love it!) but you still wanted to go.  There were zero people in that pool.  George, you lasted about 10 minutes.  Your little teeth were chattering and your body was shaking.  Lila, you stayed in a bit longer, but not by much.
  • We went over to the park and played for a bit and ran into a few friends from school.  You guys had the time of your life.  And you finally got to try cotton candy!!  You've been begging for cotton candy for the last few months, but I refuse to buy it from a store...it has to be fresh!  It was everything you thought it would be.
  • Lila, today you decided we should live in Hawaii.  I'm down with that.  You're inspired and have been wearing a little bikini and skirt and hula dancing all day.  You say you want to live there because then you could go swimming every day, and there would be "no coat" days all the time.  I can totally picture both you and Jane living in Hawaii.  You both love the water and nature and being almost naked.
  • Jane, you've really gotten into cooking this summer.  You tried to make spinach cheese balls for everyone for lunch.  You loved them.  The babies...not so much.  Lila told me, "Jane made something with salad things and it was so disgusting, but then dad made me a super good lunch with oysters.  Weird.  The other day you made butter chicken and turmeric rice.  OMG.  It was so good.  And yesterday you made homemade Ramen.  You're so adventurous. I love it!  I'm really enjoying this break from cooking, and I'm starting to feel inspired by things I'd like to make.
