walk to school
- George, today was your first real day. You only went for 45 minutes, but you were super excited. You wanted to bring your backpack and lunch bag with a few snacks.
- Lila, you were really excited that Georgie would be at school with you. I'm hoping his presence will help you feel a little better at school.
- It's starting to look like fall. The leaves are turning and even though the sun was warm, the breeze has a little chill in it. This is my favorite time of year.
- George, you marched right up onto the porch of the classroom and started the line. You knew exactly what you were supposed to do and looked confident and sure of yourself. Before you went up the stairs, you warned me that I couldn't come to school with you because kindergarten isn't for adults. Wow. You and Lila have such different personalities.
- George, you came out of the classroom beaming. You told me, "I had a really good first day of kindergarten. I didn't even fart! I was worried about that." Glad everything worked out so well for you.
- Jane and Katie, I knew exactly when it was your lunch time because both of you started texting me. I was thrilled. I love hearing from you in the middle of the day. It always feels nice to have a little bit of contact when we're apart for the day.
- Jane, you LOVE your new school. You said you thought you would be lucky if you made one friend, but you made a pile of friends today, and you fit right into the class like you've been there all along. I'm so happy and relieved to hear this.
- Katie, you were happy with your day too because you managed to find all your classes without incident. You have friends in all your classes too, so you're pretty happy with your semester.
- After dinner, everyone sat around the dinner table and chatted for about 45 minutes (and I didn't even force anyone to stay!!!) I can't tell you how happy this made me. I love that you guys were excited about your days and wanted to share them with us.
