daddy's classroom

daddy's classroom
  • Katie, last night you asked to take the day off today, and I most definitely granted it to you.  Everyone needs a break once in a while.  You've been working hard at school and soccer and piano, and you deserve a quiet day to relax and renew.  I hope you remember to take time for yourself when you're an adult.  It's healthy and good to give your brain, body and spirit a rest.
  • Katie, you asked if you could read my blog this morning.  I love it that you guys read it.  You keep fairly up to date with it, but Jane, you don't read it for weeks at a time, then spend a morning or afternoon getting caught up.  Jane, you love that I write nice things about everyone.  I love writing those nice things because I think the world of  you guys...but I'm sure it doesn't always get communicated in the busyness of everyday life.
  • Jane, you were sick today.  You woke up with a stomach thing.  You rested and slept for most of the day.
  • Lila, you were fairly pleasant about going to school.  You took Katie's special tiger stuffy (Gab) with you in case you missed us too much.
  • Katie, you came with me to drop Lila off.  You stood at her classroom door and watched her do her morning routine.  You looked so proud of her.
  • Katie, you looked adorable today.  You had a cute little outfit on, your hair was great and your little smile lit up my life.
  • We went to Auntie Georgia's so she could fill out a reference form for your Quebec trip Katie.  I've always loved the row of bottles sitting on the window ledge in the kitchen.  So cute.  We had a nice little visit while she did the paperwork.  I was trying to take photos of Sid, but he's pretty camera shy.  I finally got one of him after he thought we had left.
  • Then we headed to the mall to get you a new pair of shoes.  You got your first pair of Converse.  And you happily spent your own money on them.  You commented afterward that you hadn't worried about spending your money (which is new for you)...and then joked that you were worried that you hadn't been worried.  Ahahaha.  So happy to hear you laughing about anxiety.  That's a big step forward.
  • Georgie, after school I took you and Katie down to daddy's school to say hello and have a look at his new classroom.  This is the first time we've seen it.  He was busy marking, so we just said a quick hello, hung out for a couple minutes then headed back home for dinner.
  • Our neighbor was getting rid of a couple chairs today, so I happily took them.  I love them.  I put one in the babies' room and one in my room.  They're the perfect size for cuddling up.  This means that I'm going to have to get rid of my rocking chair because we don't have enough room, which makes me a little sad.  I bought that chair with great excitement before you were born Jane, and I've rocked and nursed all my babies in it.  It has served me well, but it's time to let it go.
  • Lila, you're obsessed with letters and sounds and words.  You can't stop sounding things out and trying to write words on the fridge with the magnets or in your little red book.  Today after your bath, I went to get your pajamas ready, and I came out to find you making words in the kitchen in your birthday suit.
