little green dress

• It rained so hard today, we were stuck inside for the entire morning.  I'm missing our adventures. I don't like to be house bound.  It makes me grouchy and edgy.  When I feel like that, I start to get really hard on myself.   
• When I went to wake you from your nap George, I found you asleep in that green dress.  You must have changed after I put you down for your nap.  We went to the orthodontist to talk about Katie's treatment plan and I was pleasantly surprised that NOBODY commented or gave you (or me!) any dirty looks.  
• We watched Trolls this evening.  It was cute to see all four of you enjoying a movie so much together.  I love the soundtrack.  I put it on my phone and it's going to be our driving music for the next little while
• I notice that when we watch a movie, you prefer to watch it in my room even though the tv is bigger and better in the living room, and we have a nice sound system out there.  I like to imagine it's because you like to be near me
• Jane, we were talking about when you leave home.  I asked you what you'd miss and you said you'd miss my cooking "because your food tastes like love".  You couldn't have said anything better
• George and Lila, I gave you guys two or three cups of uncooked rice and various containers to play with.  It's kept you occupied for a couple weeks already.  You've created an endless list of games to play.  Tonight you made soup by combining the rice and the bananagrams pieces
• Katie, you're busy preparing for your piano exam that is on Tuesday.  We're working on ear training together.  It brings me back to the days of my youth.  Piano was such an important part of my life and I find it odd that I have no desire to even touch the piano these days.  I wonder if it will come back to me later on, maybe when my life has settled down a bit
• George, after your bath, you wanted to put that dress right back on.  I was touched as I watched daddy help you with it.  You're so lucky you have such a kind, supportive, loving daddy.
