hockey hero
  • I think we're at the height of June busyness right now.  It's intense.  So many special events happening.  It seems like I just go from one thing to the next without a break in-between.  George and Lila, you get dragged around and you're still holding it together, but the cracks are starting to show.  You're tired and cranky and have very little tolerance and patience.  You're craving some quiet time at home.
  • Katie, you participated in your school's triathlon today.  You were in a team with Annika and Tamara.  You did the running, Annika did the biking, and Tamara was supposed to swim for you, but she was sick today.  You looked like you were having fun.  Big smiles as you ran
  • I was delighted to see Rhonda at the triathlon.  We had a great visit.  She makes me laugh, and it feels so good to laugh like that.  She was cheering Ilian on, who did the whole triathlon solo.  Wow!  Good job Ilian
  • Lila,  you were actually quite naughty this afternoon.  Hitting and pinching and pushing and pestering George.  When we got home after the triathlon you did something to him and I asked you to go to your bed.  A few minutes later when I went to check on you, you were fast asleep.  I think June is doing a number on you guys as well.  I wouldn't normally let you sleep so late in the day, but today I left you because you're obviously very tired
  • George, after school we went to watch Daddy play hockey with his Wednesday morning hockey group.  For their last game of the year, they get an afternoon ice time and go for dinner together afterwards.  You were so excited to go watch dad.  You brought your Playmobil hockey guys with you in your little backpack and played and played, pretending that your little guys were the "daddy's" on the ice.  And of course, your favorite part of the whole thing was going into the dressing room with dad after the game
  • I took photos at the hockey game.  400 of them.  Oh my gosh.  I don't really find hockey an inspirational subject, but daddy swears the guys will love them.  I'm trying to talk daddy into buying me a new lens (70-200mm 2.8...just in case you're reading this Ian!) so I can take even better hockey photos.
  • Katie, you had your last piano lesson of the year tonight.  One by one, things are ending and it's feels like such a relief to me.  I need a break from all the driving and organizing and scheduling
  • Jane, you were wearing the funniest shirt today.  You were laughing about how weird it was, which made us all giggle.  You didn't want me to take a photo, but oh my gosh, I wish I had one.  You had totally run out of clothes and you had to dig something out of the back of your closet.  It was pink and had a huge heart made of pink fringe on the front.  Very NOT a Jane Jane shirt.  At least you enjoyed the humor in it
  • Lila, you've been working hard saving money the last few days.  You have a little pink change purse and have now collected a couple dollars worth of coins from around the house.  I asked you what you're going to buy, and you said you're going to buy me a puppy because you know how much I want one.  Whaaaaat?  So cute.  I really do want a puppy...but I think it's probably the last thing our family needs right now.  I asked you what you would like to name the puppy.  You said it needed to be a very beautiful name.  You thought for a while, then decided we should name the puppy "Auntie Kim"
