- Getting ready for school is a pretty big undertaking. I get up at 6:30 and get up right away. George, you're usually in bed with me. I get ready and dressed and make the bed. Then I wake up Lila (very carefully and quietly). Then it's breakfast and packing lunches and doing hair and getting dressed. We have a warning alarm that goes off at 7:40 and a second alarm that goes off at 7:50. Then we get our shoes and coats on and head down to the van. By the time I get everyone to school, I feel like I've put in a full day's work.
- Lila, I'm purposefully trying to spend more time at your school. I'm thinking that maybe if we spend more time there playing and doing fun stuff together, it'll make school a little less strange for you. You love playing there with George. I hope this strategy works because I hate that you don't enjoy kindergarten.
- George, auntie Kim called shortly after we dropped Lila at school, so we hung around on the path at the back of the field while I chatted with her. You were hilarious...you started playing with a metal post. You wrestled, kicked, hugged and kissed it. You told me it was your best buddy. I asked you what it's name was and you said it was Dwight. You kill me kid. You're so funny.
- Lila, when we picked you up, you were proudly wearing a crown you made. It was so cute. You were pretty proud of it. You're always super hungry at the end of the day. You always open up your lunch bag and eat every single thing in it. You take great pleasure in sharing with George.
- Lila, you had your first library day at school. Oddly enough, you chose a book that we already have at home. Jane offered to read it to you, so you snuggled on her bed and read together.
- Katie, the light at soccer practice was so magical. I can't get enough of the autumn light.
