christmas eve
Getting a family of six ready for a road trip is no easy feat. We wanted to leave by 9:00 this morning…which normally means we would leave around 1 in the afternoon. But by some miracle, we drove away at 9:30. I’m calling it a Christmas miracle.
We stopped in at Auntie Kim’s house in Chilliwack so I could wish her a Merry Christmas and give her gift to her. Daddy wouldn’t anyone besides me leave the van, so I went in for a couple minutes, then they ended up coming out to the van to say hello.
We stopped in Hope for our traditional travelling lunch at McDonald’s. Lila, you ordered a Big Mac, which really cracked me up for some reason. You’re such a big eater.
The trip was completely uneventful, which is exactly what I hope a road trip will be. We got to Kelowna around 2:30 and headed straight to Auntie Jenny’s house. It was so nice to be here because we usually stay at Grandma’s and don’t have the opportunity to see the Beek family in their natural environment.
Grandma came and joined us after playing for the Christmas Eve service at the church she plays for. We ordered eight pizzas and had a delicious decadent dinner. It has been dad’s family’s tradition to get pizza on Christmas Eve, and we’ve decided to adopt if for our family as well.
Then we chillaxed and hung out and stared at each other. When the kids all went to bed, we got the stockings stuffed, the presents under the tree, and then headed to bed ourselves. I was getting prepared for an early morning.
