first purchase
  • Lila,  you woke up bright and early so we could go to the store to buy your precious stuffies.  George was just as excited as you.  This was your very first time ever buying something with your own money.  Daddy helped you at the cash register because you had a big pile of coins to count out.  The lady at the store was so kind and patient with you and the whole process.
  • George and Lila, I took you out to Mundy Park this afternoon to look for turtles and frogs.  You each brought a butterfly net, and Lila, you also brought the stick from a broken butterfly net to use as a "staff."  (How do you know these words?)  Wouldn't you know, you and George fought over that stupid stick...even though we were in the middle of a huge forest and sticks were everywhere I looked.  Crazy kids.  We stayed in the forest for about three hours and played at both of the lakes.  You didn't end up catching anything, but you were dirty and happy and tired by the time we left.  I call that a win!
  • It was daddy's turn to make dinner tonight.  He made Panago Pizza.  Our family can polish off two large pizzas in like, five minutes.  It's alarming.
  • We hung out on the deck for a good long while after dinner.  It's cooler out there, and now that we have two seating areas, it's nicer for all of us to be out there.
  • George you told me you were handsome everywhere today.  I think you might think plaid = handsome.
  • Jane, you made a huge shopping list for me.  The meals you have planned look pretty amazing.
  • George, you've talking a lot about avocados and guacamole the last few days.  I don't know where it's coming from.  Every time I go out, you ask me to buy avocados.  Katie, every time he says avocado, you crack up and say "Free shevackadoo."  I was puzzled and somewhat amused, but didn't bother to ask until tonight.  You showed me this:

  • I'm so darn proud of my vine growing at the front door.  I found some tiny little solar powered lights to weave into them and it's just so pretty!  I wish I could photograph it properly.
