16!

16!
  • Jane Jane, you’re 16 today! Wow!!!

  • You woke up nice and early because you were so excited. You said you haven’t been this excited about a birthday since you were a little girl.

  • George, you gave Jane a shoulder massage because you know how much she likes them. After you finished, I gave her a face and head massage. Jane, you looked pretty relaxed and happy.

  • Katie, you gave Jane your gift this morning. A set of rings you knew she’d like. So pretty!

  • Jane, your birthday breakfast request was hash browns, hollandaise sauce, and sausage. Since daddy is the ONLY one who can make hash browns properly around here, he got permission to skip the pancake breakfast at his school so he could stay home and make yours.

  • Lila, you’ve been moderately curious about tying your shoes lately, so I’ve been demonstrating for you, but you’ve never actually done it yourself until this morning! You worked on it in the van on the way to school and actually got one tied. Good for you! But when I picked you up from school, I saw you had “tied” your shoes. We’ll keep working on it!

  • Jane, George and I delivered a cake to your school for you to share with your friends at lunch. When we arrived, you were just on your way out the door to go for bubble tea with your friends. I LOVED seeing you at school. You look so happy and comfortable and so YOU. It’s wonderful. I’m extremely grateful for this new school.

  • Jane, you went to stage craft at Charles Best after school, and when I picked you up, I drove over to No Frills to take some photos because they just painted the wall in the alley, and it’s so yellow and happy and bright! You forgot your phone at school, so we took a quick trip down there to retrieve it after photos.

  • When we arrived home, you announced that you were socialized-out for the day, and you were going to go put your robe on and have some time to yourself. Good for you.

  • You requested corn chowder and fresh buns for dinner. It’s your favorite meal of all time. It was a perfect day for soup.

  • Jane, you’re having your real party on Friday, but I’m so glad you had a nice day today. I love taking the time to serve you and spoil you in any way I can on your birthday. You said this was one of the best birthdays you’ve ever had. I think it has a lot to do with your friends at your new school.
