ryecatchers reunion
Daddy and I got to go on a date today! A real grown up date downtown without any kids. The Ryecatchers were playing the IPO festival and we decided to make an evening of it. We went to Taco Fino for dinner. Man, their food is delicious. We especially love the chorizo nachos. So so so good.
I drove downtown, and ended up having to parallel park on the left side of the street (because it was a oneway street). I’ve never ever done that before, and was a little terrified, but I slid that van in there like I’ve been doing it all my life. All my parallel parking lessons and practice in our huge family van with grandpa Jimmy have really paid off later on in life.
We got coffee before going to the bar (so I’d be able to stay awake past 9pm) and our barista was Asian. She asked me my name and I said “Melissa” and then she confirmed by saying “Marissa” and I nodded. Then I got my cup and it actually said Marissa. It made me laugh because I thought she was just saying my name with an accent.
We headed to the Fairview pub first to see Danny Echo, then a couple other bands and then the Ryecatchers. It felt like it was 1997 again. Except we’re all kind of old and fat now. It was really fun to hear them play, and amazingly enough I still remembered all the lyrics. I sat with Auntie Cindy and Gordon and daddy.
