i voted. did you?
I had a bunch of work to get done today, so I locked myself away at my desk and was super productive. I surfaced around lunch time, and was delighted to see it was another beautiful day.
Katie, we needed to get your contacts at the mall, so we packed everyone up and headed down there. You also decided you NEEDED jeans, so we did some shopping and looking around. It was an exercise in patience for me, as I wanted to be helpful and excited for you in your trying on and purchasing, but I also needed to keep George entertained so he would stay out of trouble. By the time you were finished, I felt like I was going to lose it with him. Like really lose it. I’d be THAT mom at the mall who is yelling and swearing and dragging her kids back to the van. It’s not that he’s trying to be naughty, but he’s just non-stop action and he just has to touch every. single. thing. he sees. It’s exhausting.
After the mall, we went to RVP to vote. Katie, you took George to the playground (thank you!) and Lila, you came with me. Lila, you were fascinated by the process. So many questions. And you were quite pleased to get a sticker when we handed our ballot in.
At dinner time, Auntie Georgia came and picked me up to go into Vancouver to meet Auntie Maria and Yvonne for dinner at a Greek place (Nammos Estiatorio) right around the corner from Auntie Maria’s house. The original gang! It felt like the olden days. The four of us started getting together shortly after Jane was born, and would go for nice dinners and hang out at each other’s places. We haven’t seen Yvonne for a while (maybe five years?) but we just picked up where we left off. After dinner at the restaurant we went back to Auntie Maria’s and Uncle Rick’s place for dessert and chatted until I couldn’t keep my eyes open any longer. Such a satisfying evening.
