broken arm
- Well Lila, you have a fracture in your arm. Funny thing is that it happened on Monday evening, but it took me two days to bring you to the doctor because you insisted that your arm was fine. Even yesterday at school, I had told your teacher, and she watched you all day and thought you were fine. It was only that you were still favoring it this morning, that I decided to take you to see Dr. Chang.
- You and Georgie were jumping off the top bunk on Monday and you tried to jump, but tripped and fell off instead. You cried for a little while, and I suspected something was wrong, but you could move your fingers and twist your arm and grasp things. I gave you a bath to see if that would distract you, but you still said it hurt. But on Tuesday, you said it felt way better. You must have a high pain tolerance!
- Katie, you had an orthodontist appointment this morning. Your teeth have moved an incredible amount. I'm so impressed. George usually wants to play out in the waiting room, but today he wanted to watch everything. Their x-ray machine is so fancy! Really cool. He was fascinated by everything they did to you. They put a chain on your teeth today, so you were pretty sore. I'm surprised by how little you complain about your teeth after an appointment.
- George, after we dropped Katie off back at school, we came home, put on a load of laundry, tidied up a bit, and then had to leave again to get Lila for her appointment.
- Lila, you were pretty brave during the X-ray. You're always so nervous about being alone, but you did it! You loved that they put an apron on you to protect your "utewus."
- We went to Eagle Ridge hospital with the completed X-rays around 12:30. We didn't get out of there until 6:00. George and Lila, you were driving me completely crazy. So hyper and bored and stir crazy. George, thank goodness Daddy was able to pick you up at 3:30 and take you home.
- Lila, you were so silly. Oh my goodness. If I were a casual observer, I would never think anything was wrong with you. You were doing crazy dances with your sunglasses on. You're an interesting little gal.
- We left the hospital with a splint and a referral to an orthopedic surgeon who we will see next week.
- I bought you ice-cream on the way home. You were incredibly patient and well behaved during the 5.5 hours at the hospital.
- I am sick. I'm going to bed at 7:30 tonight. During the time at the hospital, all I wanted was to curl up and go to sleep. Daddy said something is going around his school, and this is exactly what's happening to everyone. Super tired and an aching body.
