a girl & her shadow

• Lila, you got your cast off today.  I'm so surprised how easy and complaint free this broken arm was.  I paid a little extra for a fiberglass cast so we didn't need to worry about getting it wet.  It was worth every penny.  You were fascinated with the saw that removed it.  I was surprised.  I remember Jane was kind of scared, but you thought it was hilarious.  
• George, I walked into the living room and you were lounging on daddy's chair with the string of your shorts shoved up your nose.  Kids are so weird.
• Katie Bean, you're so into your book right now.  You're obsessed.  It's pretty great to see you reading again after a little break.
• Lila, you came outside to help me organize and trim the vine growing at our front door.  I'm so darn proud of myself for keeping that thing alive.  I can't believe it. It's the first time I've kept something alive for an entire summer, never mind a second season.
