foggy
George and Lila, I woke up with one of you on either side of me. I was wedged in the middle of my bed by two snuggly babies. It was a nice way to wake up.
Katie, you weren’t feeling well this morning, so you stayed home. You’ve got a bit of a cold and headache. I actually like to tell myself that you just wanted to stay home with me because you miss me so much when you’re at school all day.
George and Lila, we walked to school in thick fog. It was pretty intense. There was so much moisture in the air, that it almost felt like it was raining, and we could see our breath even though it was 12 degrees.
Jane, you laptop isn’t working properly, and I ended up spending the entire morning on the phone with Dell. In the middle of the call, I had to deliver a watermelon to Lila’s class (for their pink day snack) so Katie, I asked you to take over for me. You stepped in and completed all the trouble shooting they led us through, and it’s still not working. Very frustrating, but I’m glad you were here so I didn’t need to interrupt the call or disappoint Lila.
Katie, when I took you to school at lunch time, there were police everywhere. Apparently there was an incident in the morning. Jane heard about it from Tia (who goes to an entirely different school) and called me at lunch to make sure you were ok. She said she tried to call you, but you didn’t answer your phone and she was worried. Rumors are swirling about videos and threats and guns. As your mom, I can’t help but think about all the what-ifs and those what-ifs are almost crippling when I let them in. I love you guys so much.
George and Lila, we played after school for a long time. I’m making the most of this beautiful fall weather.
